Covid 19 Safety Protocol

 Hygiene & Operational Policy

  Over the past several weeks, we at the Donard Hotel have been working tirelessly to ensure the comfort and health of all our guests and team members. All of the operating procedures throughout the building have been reviewed to ensure the best service and experience possible, while adhering to social distancing and increased hygiene measures.

We have been closely following the guidelines set out by the NI Executive, Northern Ireland Hotels Federation & HSE. We have put into place all recommendations set forth by these government bodies. As these will affect the way you enter, exit and move through the hotel, we believe it prudent to inform you of the changes to your stay.

Below are some of the many steps we have taken:

Pre-Arrival:

Guests will now be contacted 24-48hrs before arrival. During this conversation we will ask for confirmation & payment for your stay. Any cancellation at this point will be without fees attached. At this point, you may also make a reservation in our restaurant. This new “pre-arrival” measure is aimed at reducing the amount of time spent in the lobby, ensuring a swift & safe check-in experience.

 


Covid 19 Safety Protocol

On Arrival:

To support the Governments essential emergency measures, we are required to monitor the number of people entering our premises. Visible markings on the floor will allow guests to practice social distancing.

Sanitising stations will be situated at primary entry & exit points throughout the building. Perspex sneeze screens will provide extra protection.

Regular checks will be carried out on all washrooms, staircases, door handles in public areas. All pens, card machines & high touch surfaces will be sanitised regularly, and Staff will always wear PPE.

Team members now must stay behind the desk during check-in. Once at reception, a temperature check will now be required. A set of room keys and a single use welcome pack will then be given.

Directional one-way signage around the Hotel will guide you to your room.    

Lifts will operate on a strict one room only policy. Cleaned after every use.

Bedrooms:

All rooms are locked once clean, a virtual seal will be placed on the door to ensure no further access to the room is permitted.

No Access will be permitted to the bedroom during a guest’s stay. Housekeeping may only attend a guest’s room on the guest request. If a service or maintenance issue is required. A member of staff will only be permitted to enter the room wearing full PPE.

All collateral materials will be removed from rooms, including but not limited to:

Pens, guest directory, telephones, newspaper supplements and pamphlets.

           

 A Five Key Critical Touch Point Cleaning Protocol will be implemented to ensure extra care is taken when disinfecting all high contact touch point areas within the rooms and corridors.

Amenities will be single use only.


Covid 19 Safety Protocol


Breakfast:

Due to guidelines on critical high contact points, a buffet breakfast selection can no longer be offered. Also due to social distancing, we are now unable to host all of the hotel’s occupants in the dining room at once. Therefore, breakfast times will be allocated to rooms by location.

In your welcome pack there will be a breakfast menu to select from. Once the items you wish to have are selected on the sheet, you simply leave it at reception that evening or call front desk to let them know. 

When you arrive for breakfast your food and drinks will then be brought to the table.

If the time slot allocated to your room does not suit, for any reason, we will do our utmost to accommodate an alternative.  

Bar & Restaurant

Our Menus and service offerings have been adjusted to allow us to provide a comfortable and relaxed dining experience. 

Social distancing measures are now in place. All Bar stools have been removed and chairs placed 2m apart.

Table service only – Guests will not be permitted to stand at the bar or loiter in the walkways.

Revised food handling procedures & Increased frequency of cleaning with hospital grade dis-infectant on all cutlery, crockery and glassware

Sanitise stations will be situated at primary entry & exit points throughout, and every touch surface will be thoroughly cleaned & sanitised.

Only team members will be required to wear PPE, however open displays of food will not be permitted.

Toilets will operate on a one in one out basis. Hourly checks will be taken on all washrooms, door handles and high touch surfaces

All team members will have a temperature check twice a day and once a week a written report to ensure that any early signs of symptoms are quickly identified. If any member of a team’s household should present symptoms, they must stay at home for at least 7 days unless symptoms present themselves.

Corridors & Passageways

There will be inevitable passing of each other in narrow corridors and passageways. This momentary lapse of social distancing is OK. However, we ask all guests

Departure

Express Checkout service will be available, with a key drop system in place. A final receipt will then be emailed to you if any extra costs are accrued. In order to ensure the safety of our guests and employees’ reception will remain behind the counter at all times.  

Our Team will receive all necessary training if any further updates present themselves. At all times our staff will be protected in all relevant PPE and this will be available to you to ensure you are safe and comfortable during your stay.

We will constantly monitor and update best practices, giving you peace of mind during your stay.
